How to Play

Play Chalkboard Sums online for free. In Chalkboard Sums, you must quickly assemble a valid equation using the numbers and operators onscreen. Get higher points from making longer and more complex equations. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Help to read the game’s instructions.
Select Highscores to view the leaderboard.
Select the drop down list on the bottom left corner to select a game language.
Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - With your mouse, left click on any of the numbers and operators to add them to the equation.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap on the numbers and operators to add them to the equation.
    - Controls and indicators
      - The game’s controls and indicators are on the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Timer
        Level number
        Score
        Undo button: Reverses your last action
        Clear button: Removes the entire equation
        Pause button: Stops the game
        Record button: Turns the music on and off
        Speaker button: Turns the audio effects on and off
        Screen button: Lets you toggle between windowed and full-screen modes
        Game Play
        Basic rules
        Draw operators and numbers from the chalkboard.
        Fill the spaces so they form a valid equation.
        Numbers and operators must alternate to form an equation (e.g. 1 + 3 – 2 = 2)
        Meet the necessary number of numbers and operators (marked in red) to create a valid equation.
        The equation you create must have a correct answer.
        Select the check button to the right once you’re done making the equation.
        Create a full equation before the timer runs out.
        Finish 5 different equations to clear the level.
        Building equations
        Equations must have numbers, operators, and a final value determined at the end.
        You can only use the only available numbers and operators shown on the chalkboard.
        You can have up to 4 numbers and 3 operators, plus the final number and the equal sign.
        All 5 mathematical operators are used.
        You can any operator in any order, as long as the final answer is correct.
        Use wild cards to help you create new equations.
        The number wild card can work as any number between 0 and 9, as the equation demands.
        The operator wild card can be any of the base operator signs and the equal sign.
        You can make 2 types of equations:
        Regular equations that have a definite end value (sum, difference, quotient, product)
        e.g. 5 + 4 – 3 +1 = 7
        Equations that equal other equations
        e.g. 5 + 4 – 1 = 6 + 2
        Levels
        Levels are unlocked one after another.
        You start the game at Level 1, and can play through Level 5.
        You can save your final score on the 5th level or after you fail any level after Level 1.
        Each time you load the game again, it will ask you if you want to start from Level 1 or from the last level you unlocked.
        Scoring
        Your lowest possible score, occupying all 5 valid spaces, is 12 points.
        An equation occupying 7 spaces nets you 40 points.
        The highest possible score, with an equation occupying 9 spaces, is 80 points.
        Complex equations whose end values are other equations net you more points.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like simple math games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
